Abby Tires & Auto Repair (the "Company", "we", "us" or "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of individuals who interact with us. This Privacy Policy (the "Policy") describes the manner in which the Company collects, uses, discloses, retains and safeguards personal information obtained through the website located at abbytires.com (the "Website").
The Company is subject to the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act ("PIPEDA") and the Personal Information Protection Act (British Columbia) ("PIPA"). This Policy has been prepared in accordance with the principles established under that legislation.
In this Policy, "personal information" means information about an identifiable individual, and "you" means an individual who submits personal information through the Website.
Summary. The Company collects personal information solely where an individual voluntarily submits it through a quotation or booking form, and uses that information only to respond to the request submitted. The Company does not sell, rent or trade personal information. The Website does not use cookies, analytics or tracking technologies of any kind.
1. Scope of this Policy
1.1 This Policy applies to personal information collected through the Website. It does not apply to information collected in person at either of the Company's locations, by telephone, or by any third party, including finance providers, whose services may be referenced on the Website.
1.2 By submitting personal information through the Website, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Policy.
2. Personal information collected
2.1 The Company collects personal information only where you voluntarily provide it by completing and submitting a form on the Website. Depending on the form completed, the categories of personal information collected may include:
- your name;
- your telephone number;
- your email address;
- vehicle information, including make, model and tire or wheel specifications;
- the service location selected (Surrey or Abbotsford);
- the service requested and your preferred appointment date and time;
- an indication of whether you wish to receive information regarding financing; and
- any additional information you elect to include in the notes field.
2.2 The Company does not request, and does not collect through the Website, payment card numbers, banking information, Social Insurance Numbers, driver's licence numbers, or credit history. Where you apply for financing, that application is administered directly by the applicable finance provider under its own privacy policy, and the Company is not the collecting party in respect of that application.
2.3 Information collected automatically
The Website does not employ cookies, web beacons, advertising pixels, analytics services, social media trackers or any third-party scripts. The Company's hosting provider maintains standard server logs, which may include Internet Protocol addresses, browser type and request timestamps, for the purposes of security, diagnostics and service reliability. The Company does not use such logs to identify individuals or to construct user profiles.
3. Purposes of collection, use and disclosure
3.1 Personal information submitted through the Website is collected, used and disclosed for the following purposes only:
- to respond to and process the quotation or booking request submitted;
- to prepare and communicate an estimate for the goods or services requested;
- to schedule, confirm or reschedule an appointment;
- to contact you regarding the availability of parts or the status of work; and
- to maintain records of services performed on your vehicle.
3.2 The Company does not use personal information collected through the Website for marketing or promotional purposes, and does not add individuals to any mailing list, except with express consent.
4. Consent
4.1 The Company collects, uses and discloses personal information with your consent, except where collection, use or disclosure without consent is permitted or required by law. By submitting a form on the Website, you consent to the collection, use and disclosure of the personal information contained in that submission for the purposes set out in Section 3.
4.2 You may withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal and contractual restrictions and reasonable notice, by contacting the Privacy Officer using the details in Section 12. Withdrawal of consent may prevent the Company from providing the goods or services requested.
5. Disclosure to service providers
5.1 Form submissions are transmitted to the Company's business email account using Resend, a third-party email delivery service, which processes the submission solely for the purpose of delivering it. The Company engages no other third-party processor in respect of Website form data.
5.2 The Company does not sell, rent, trade or otherwise disclose personal information to any other third party, except:
- where required or permitted by applicable law;
- in response to a subpoena, warrant, court order or other lawful demand; or
- where necessary to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim.
6. Storage outside Canada
6.1 Email delivery and hosting infrastructure may transmit, process or store personal information on servers located outside Canada, including in the United States.
6.2 Personal information stored in a foreign jurisdiction is subject to the laws of that jurisdiction and may be accessible to the courts, law enforcement agencies and national security authorities of that jurisdiction. Enquiries regarding the Company's practices in respect of foreign storage may be directed to the Privacy Officer.
7. Retention
7.1 Personal information submitted through the Website is retained in the Company's business email records. Information relating to services performed is retained for as long as necessary to fulfil warranty obligations and to satisfy applicable tax, accounting and legal requirements.
7.2 Enquiries that do not result in the provision of goods or services are retained only for so long as is reasonably necessary for the purposes for which they were collected, after which they are deleted.
8. Safeguards
8.1 The Website is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and form submissions are encrypted in transit.
8.2 Form submissions are processed by a server-side function. Credentials for the email delivery service are stored as server environment variables and are not present in the Website's source code or accessible to any visitor's browser.
8.3 Access to the Company's business email account is restricted to personnel who require access in the performance of their duties.
8.4 While the Company maintains safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information held, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and the Company cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Access, correction and accuracy
9.1 Subject to limited exceptions prescribed by law, you have the right to request access to the personal information the Company holds about you, to request information regarding its use and disclosure, and to request correction of any inaccuracy.
9.2 Requests must be submitted in writing to the Privacy Officer. The Company will respond within thirty (30) days of receipt, or will notify you within that period of any permitted extension.
9.3 The Company may require verification of your identity before disclosing personal information, in order to prevent disclosure to an unauthorised person.
10. Minors
The Website is intended for use by individuals of the age of majority in British Columbia who are arranging vehicle service. The Company does not knowingly collect personal information from minors. Where the Company becomes aware that such information has been collected, it will be deleted.
11. Third-party websites
The Website may contain links to third-party websites, including mapping services. The Company is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of any third-party website. Personal information disclosed on a third-party website is governed by the privacy policy of that website.

13. Complaints to a regulator
Where you are not satisfied with the Company's response to a privacy enquiry or complaint, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
14. Amendments
The Company may amend this Policy from time to time. The version published on this page is the version in force, and the effective date is stated above. Material amendments will be posted on this page prior to taking effect.
